Meaningful Moment

Watching all the pilgrims on the Camino Frances walking through Logroño.
In the course of one morning session of coffee and churros, I counted maybe 10 pilgrims.
In the entire time on the Camino de Ebro, which comes to just under a month, I saw zero pilgrims.

Random Thought of the Day

After starting hiking on the 27th of June, and now ending on the 20th of July, after 240 Mi, it is time to relax. Arrived in Logroño today, after hiking all morning and part of the afternoon.

Walking across the bridge over the Rio Ebro.
Occurs to me that people doing the Camino Francis see this river for one day.
We have been seeing this river for almost an entire month.
Wondering if there's a metaphor there.

Met a really nice volunteer at the cathedral who had a cheerful, smile and engaging personality.
Spent several minutes talking with him about caminos.
A most welcoming gentleman.

Deb and I walked the last quarter mile of the Camino de Ebro in Logroño. It joins the Camino Frances, basically in front of a police station. The end is not marked by anything special.
This is just like when Deb and I passed by the end of the Camino Catalan several weeks back. I saw no marker to indicate that two caminos were coming together.
And then I thought back to 2022 when Deb and I walked the Camino Madrid. When we reached the end of that trail, where it joined the Camino Frances, there was no special markers either.
I guess this could be considered a metaphor that life is not about the destination but the journey.
These days I'm going to dispute that absolutism.
While life is about the journey, living is also about reaching the goal, and there should be some kind of special marker there for achieving or reaching significant points in that journey.

Co-cathedral of Logroño

(Monday)

Caught the sun peeking out from behind one of the spires of the cathedral

This intersection marks the end of the Camino de Ebro. At this point, it joins or ends (I guess the verb choice depends on your view of life) on the Camino Frances.

After a month of following the Rio Ebro, this is our final crossing. In the city of Logroño. We have finished our Camino, and are now simply enjoying our time here.

Deb is a human clock. Following the math per the instructions are the exhibit, her shadow days it is 11 o'clock. Must add I hr in summer.

I am trying to create a whirlpool by spinning the handle fast enough.

Here I am experiencing centrifugal force by being spun around quickly. Too bad it's a still photo.

The Rio Ebro had been the focus of our past month.
If not next to it, we were never far from it.
