On the Road

5:45 a.m.  Wake up. On the one hand, we have a short walk today of only 8 Mi so we slept in. On the other hand, today is supposed to be very very hot, possibly over 100f, so we need to get walking.

7:15 a.m. On the road. Temperature is 68° f.

9:40 a.m. Hike is going great. Making good time. Will probably be in Rincón well before noon.
Talked to the owner. We can check in 3 hrs early. Giving us a almost another down day to relax.

On the hike, I stuck my head in an abandoned shelter and I don't know from where but a wasp came out and nailed me on the right thumb.
Fortunately, Dr. Deb quickly removed the invasive stinger, which must have been over 1/32nd inches long. The huge barb was extremely painful.
Dr Deb flushed out the life threatening wound with her only remaining fresh water liquid of life.
She also shared her extra strength, super strong, amazingly powerful hydrocortisone to cure my impending pain.
I love my doctor.

11:15 a.m. Arrived in Rincon. Did some shopping. Sitting down at a coffee shop for a Cafe Con leche before we head on over to our lodging. We are just a few minutes from the pensión so ending the hike here.

Nice, easy. 8 Mile day. Temperatures were pleasant, starting in the mid 70's and ending in the mid 80's. Scenery was mostly farmland.

Meaningful Moment

Walking with Deb for 21 days now.

Random Thought of the Day

Not much in the way of photogenic items today. Continuation of farm fields. They are pretty in their own way but we have been seeing them for many days now.

Our plans for tomorrow

Once again, the temperatures are breaking in our favor tomorrow. Highs are expected to be about 10 to 12° cooler than today. That changes everything.

Quick check of the hourly forecast through tomorrow indicates that temperatures will be in the 70° range through 1:00 p.m.

Given that we only have 8 Mi to hike, which translates to about 4 and 1/2 hours of walking, we are talking about sleeping in until 7:00 a.m. a.m. which would be an unbelievable luxury and finishing the hike by 12:30.

We will reevaluate again tonight.

At the Pensión

2:00 p.m. 96f in the sun which is why I'm sleeping in the shade
4:00 p.m. and it is 100f. Too hot to even go for a walk.

Power Napping

5:00 p.m. Just had my second power nap since we got here. No doubt a combination of the temperature and physical exhaustion. Three more days of hiking. I'd say about 30 more miles.

Heading out shortly just to walk around, maybe buy one or two small items and figure out what to do for dinner. I'm not that hungry right now.

Walk around Rincon

Iglesia San Miguel
Originally constructed in the 16th century as a brick church, dedicated to St. Michael the archangel

This cat was doing its best to find a way to avoid the 100 plus Fahrenheit day.

Main drag of Rincón
The main activity in the area is irrigated farming and the related canning industry. The main crops are fruit and vegetables.
